Mama of 11 Shares a Piece of Her Story at MOPS

Jamie Wise and her hubby, John, take their role as parents seriously. They have 11 children and 3 more on the way.

Their children are Angie, 28, Alycia, 21, Keven, 21, Jason, 18, Jordyn, 18, Vivian, 18, Marieya, 14, Devon, 13, Isaiah, 11, Josiah, 8, and Caleb, 7. They are adopting 3 more ages 2, 4, and 8.

Jamie will be the guest speaker for the Bridge MOPS group on Thursday, September 26. The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner followed by Jamie's talk on "Messy Parenting: Love vs. Fear."

Jamie has been married to John for 21 years. John is a pastor at Journey Community Church. When Jamie and John can steal away, they love to go to Japanese Kitchen in Fresno to unwind.

We know what you're thinking: how do they manage all those bambinos?

Jamie's secret: she has to have a Venti Caramel Frappuccino every day. "I add a shot of espresso on really busy days," she says.

Coffee may kickstart her energy but time alone with God is her life line. "For restoration I have to get solitude with Christ," she says. "I love to get away several times a year for a weekend of quiet time with worship music, my bible, and journal."

She also loves to retreat with a Karen Kingsbury book whenever she can.

Jamie is the first to say her life as a mama of a house-full of kids is not without challenges.

"My biggest challenge as a mom is balancing all of the needs of my children," she says.

Jamie will be sharing Thursday about what she has learned on the parenting journey. She emphasizes that stress often colors the way we parent. She invites us into her "beautiful mess" story.

Jamie will be also be teaching parenting classes on September 28 and October 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Classes will be held at Campus Bible Church in the upstairs classroom. The classes will be on the book, The Great Behavior Breakdown, by Bryan Post.  The book is great for parents who have adopted kids or are dealing with difficult behaviors with their children.
